Welcome to CulinaryIncubator.com! This website is dedicated to small food businesses who are trying to find a commercial kitchen to cook their product. Culinary Incubators drive new start-up businesses, for whom, without a health department licensed commercial kitchen, could not legally produce their food. In addition to producing food, commercial kitchens can be used to shoot TV shows, teach cooking classes, host food tastings, and other events.

Update 12/6/2008 - We how have a section for tenants called "Renters Info." Please feel free to learn more about renting commercial kitchens on this section by clicking here.

Kitchen Description:
The Starting Block Kitchen and Business Incubator is a nonprofit, regional economic development organization committed to small business development initiatives--for businesses just starting out, or companies outgrowing their current facilities. The commercial licensed kitchens are available 24/7 at affordable rates to help you grow your food production business.

Kitchen rental fees range from $10/hour for tabletop use, to $12/hour for general kitchen use, and $15/hour for use of the stoves, steam kettles, and fillers. Refrigerator, freezer, and dry pallet storage is available for rent--$75/month per pallet for refrigerator and freezer storage or $1.50 per cubic foot/month, and $10/month per pallet for non-secured dry storage.

Certified staff in food handling and equipment operation is available for assistance and training in food production, including measuring pH levels, batching-up recipes, and packaging and labeling.

Each producer needs a Michigan Department of Agriculture Food Establishment License to use the kitchen to make products for sale. On-site kitchen safety and sanitation training is required, as is product liability insurance.

The kitchen is also a USDA establishment and a FDA Food Canning Establishment for acidified foods.
